CSEA/VOICE is excited to share important news that could directly benefit the families you serve every day.
Beginning in 2026 (for tax year 2025), many New York families may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 per child through New York State’s expanded Empire State Child Credit — simply by filing a New York State income tax return.
This is real money going directly into the pockets of working families.
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE EMPIRE STATE CHILD CREDIT
Here’s what’s especially important:
• Families can file and receive this credit even if they have no income.
• Families can file even if they do not usually file taxes.
• Families can file even if they haven’t filed in several years.
Receiving the Empire State Child Credit:
• Will NOT impact Medicaid
• Will NOT impact SNAP
• Will NOT impact SSI
• Will NOT impact cash assistance or housing assistance
As trusted early childhood professionals and community leaders, you are often the first place families turn for information. We encourage you to help spread the word by:
• Sharing the flyer with the families in your program
• Posting information in parent newsletters or communication apps
• Including details in family updates or bulletin boards
When families are financially stronger, children are more secure — and our communities thrive.
CSEA/VOICE remains committed to supporting not only our educators, but also the families who depend on quality child care across New York State.
