About Us

We Are CSEA/VOICE

CSEA/VOICE Local 100A of the Civil Service Employees Association brings together more than 8,800  registered family, licensed group family, and legally exempt child care providers across New York State (outside NYC)

In July 2022, we ratified our fourth agreement with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. The agreement includes program grants, funding for Health Insurance and access to professional development opportunities, and the right to union assistance with regulation and payment processes.

VOICE members get to vote on CSEA/VOICE agreements with OCFS and participate on negotiating teams; run for union office; receive member newsletters and gain access to members only web content; CSEA/VOICE/AFSCME member discount programs; our member call center, staff representatives and provider advocates; VOICE sponsored training and professional development opportunities and professional lobbyists working in Albany and Washington, DC to advocate for increased child care funding, better policies and programs.

In the Summer of 2022, CSEA held elections for 26 VOICE Chapter Representatives (one representative per chapter).

History

In 2002, a group of us from Schenectady approached CSEA to ask for help. For years, family and group family providers worked individually and in groups to address challenges we faced including insurance, funding for subsidies and timely, accurate DSS payments, and the OCFS website.

Our Contract

Since 2002, we’ve built a strong union that supports child care providers to deliver early learning and care to thousands of children and families across the state. We have accomplished many of the goals set by our members at regional, statewide, and chapter meetings.
